Microsoft's "Project Siena" app lets anyone create Windows 8.1 apps

Microsoft “Project Siena” is a Windows 8.1 app that will let users create their own Windows apps, without the need for any programming*know-how.

The*Windows Phone App Studio already lets people create apps for the mobile version of Windows, and Project Siena comes as another push Microsoft is making towards getting more apps for its Modern UI-toting operating systems. Creating apps is as simple as adding images and then hooking them up to the necessary data (data can be obtained from sources such as RSS feeds and the like), with the option to customize how the app looks, followed by sharing the installer package with others.

For those with some developer experience, advanced functionality can be built in through “Excel-like expressions” – that still won’t allow for the complex apps that are possible through Visual Studio and other programming interfaces, though it should give Microsoft a higher number of apps to boast about.*Project Siena is currently available as a beta preview on the Windows Store for both Windows 8.1 and Windows RT, and can be downloaded from the source link below.
