Thanks to a new trailer showcased by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, specific story details for*The Order: 1886 have been revealed–including insight on the ancient order of knights and its Arthurian basis.
The Order 1886 is one of the most anticipated games for the PlayStation 4 for many reasons; perhaps you’re smitten with the definitive steampunk atmosphere, or the unique story arc that spans across an alternate timeline in Victorian-Era London. Maybe you love the badass technology the warriors sport in the reveal trailer, or perhaps you’ve always wanted to be a knight (who hasn’t?).
Details have been scarce on Ready At Dawn’s upcoming masterpiece, but thanks to a recent trailer showcased by Sony in Japan, we have some news–and it’s pretty interesting.
A new trailer for Ready At Dawn’s upcoming PS4 exclusive was showcased by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ), and from it we can glean some pretty big snippets from the story arc. For one, the story is a modern-esque take on the ancient Arthurian legends featuring a distinct style and symbolic content along with action-oriented gameplay to deliver something wholly unique.
Secondly, players will assume the role of Galahad (that dashing rogue with the boom-stick and the handsome ‘stache) who is enlisted in an ancient order of knights that protects the realm of men against a mysterious foe. The order’s roots span far past the Victorian era–and even pre-dates the British Empire…but as old as the order is, the tyrannical adversaries are much older.
Although the game takes place in the late 1800′s, the Order has a variety of high-tech weaponry at its disposal–most of which is custom-designed to dispatch those fearsome baddies.
As far as the structure of the Order itself, the knights are all very chivalrous, filled with a sense of honor, duty, and loyalty. Every knight is sworn to Her Majesty The Queen, further reflecting the ancient Arthurian legends. Oath and duty bind the knights of the order to their cause, and each possesses the deadly skills needed to further their cause.
Mystery is a common factor in the world of The Order: 1886, as it’s been said that each knight knows a shadowy secret that all members of the order share.
This info paints a splendid picture of the game itself, and looks to be one of the most unique PlayStation 4 titles in development. Coupled with the wistful steampunk elements and the seamless blend of legend and myth, The Order: 1886 is shaping up to be an alluring game to say the least.
Be sure to check out the original SCEJ trailer for the game that’s included below–it’ll no-doubt fuel the anticipation for the upcoming steampunk adventure.
The Order: 1886 is slated to release sometime in 2014 exclusively for Sony’s next-gen PlayStation 4 console. For more information including screenshots and trailers, be sure to check out the game’s official website.

“The Knights are part of the elite Order that protects the human race. It was founded in order to fight the “enemy” that threatened mankind over the centuries. It’s said that it’s not clear when and how it was formed, but it existed for a longer time than the British Empire itself.”

“The members of the Order hold great authority in the British Empire. It’s not uncommon to see the Knights wearing the most advanced custom-made equipment during investigations of crime scenes involving the ‘enemy.’
“In addition to that, all the members of the Order have pledged absolute loyalty to Her Majesty the Queen of the British Empire. It’s also said that they all share a ‘common secret.’”
