As Facebook is close to acquiring Android app insights startup Little Eye Labs, Twitter is also said to be interested in another Bangalore-based startup.
Facebook may be close to acquiring its first Indian startup. An article on India’s Business Standard indicated that a deal was about to be finalized, and that it was being overseen by Indian Software Products Industry Roundtable (iSpirt).
Little Eye Labs is a Bangalore-based startup that builds app analysis tools for Android app developers. These tools enable developers to get insights into the behavior of the app. Little Eye Labs currently has eight employees, and has obtained $100,000 to $200,000 in funds from GSF Accelerator and Ventureast.
Both Facebook and Little Eye Labs have declined to comment on the acquisition, but it is clear that India is a major market for Facebook. The country has over 114 million active users, and is seeing a burgeoning smartphone market that is the fourth largest in the world.
Along with Facebook, Twitter is also allegedly interested in buying a startup based out of Bangalore called Frrole. Frrole analyses over half a billion tweets on a monthly basis, and provides user insights for brands and media outlets. Following its IPO, acquiring a platform like Frrol would be ideal for Twitter as it can provide better insights when it comes to how users are engaging with a brand.
