Apple hasn’t clarified exactly when the Retina iPad mini is going to be available, though rumor has it that the pre-orders might start on November 1.
At its media event last week, Apple announced two new tablets, the iPad Air and the Retina iPad mini. The former is going to be released on November 1, it is going to be sold online and through retail stores in select markets. No pre-orders are being taken for the iPad Air. Apple said that the Retina iPad mini is going to be available later in November, it hasn’t revealed a confirmed release date. It has also not clarified if pre-orders will be taken for this tablet.
Unconfirmed chatter in Apple’s retail channels hints towards the possibility of Retina iPad mini pre-orders being opened up the same day that iPad Air goes on sale. That would mean that the second generation iPad mini might become available around mid-November.*Apple will allow customers to place their iPad Air orders for home delivery at 12:01 AM Pacific on November 1, so if Retina iPad mini pre-orders start that day, its likely that they’ll also kick off at the same time.
Various analyst reports suggest that Retina iPad mini supplies are severely constrained, supplies are not expected to get better until the first quarter of 2014. There does seem to be truth to these reports, since Apple has been tight-lipped about availability of its Retina display touting iPad mini.
