Systena launches the first Tizen-based tablet in Japan. The developer-only tablet comes with high-end hardware and contains Tizen*developer tools from Systena.
Systena has unveiled its Tizen build kit, which includes developer tools, manuals and technical and consulting services. Also included in the kit is a 10.1-inch tablet that comes with the latest public build of Tizen, which is Tizen 2.1 Magnolia.
The tablet comes with a display resolution of 1920 x 1200, contains a quad-core 1.4 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory and a front and rear camera along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity. Systena has not mentioned the pricing and availability details yet, although interested developers can get more information through Systena’s website.
Earlier this year, there were rumors indicating that the Tizen platform was all but dead, as it had been mentioned that Samsung had lost interest in the platform. However, last month, a Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 were revealed to be running the latest version of Tizen 3.0. Samsung’s CEO JK Shin later mentioned that Tizen was not abandoned, and that Samsung would launch a device based on Tizen in 2014.
