Late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro users complain of keyboard and trackpad issues

Various users of the new late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro models have taken to Apple Support Communities to complain about various issues they’re facing with the keyboard and the trackpad.

Apple Support Communities are filling up with threads started by users who’ve picked up the new Retina MacBook Pro, which was announced alongside the new iPads on October 22.*Apparently users are experiencing these issues of the keyboard locking up and trackpad freezing on both the 13 and 15 inch models. Some users also complain about facing difficulty when trying to install Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 through Boot Camp.

As per the threads, the keyboard and the trackpad on both models is locking up randomly. The only solution for these issues at this point in time appears to be a hard reset of the machine through the power button. The threads also indicate that the issue persists on all three configurations of the 13 inch late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro.*As far as Windows installation through Boot Camp is concerned, users are errors with the partition that is created to install Windows. Apparently copy errors and random freezes are being experienced.

Apple is yet to comment on these issues. It remains to be seen if the trackpad and keyboard issues are due to faulty hardware or not, the company hasn’t said if its looking into the matter. The Boot Camp related issues might be fixed through an EFI software update, though Apple hasn’t said when such an update is going to be rolled out.
