Apple may have launched its newest update, OS X Mavericks, just a few days ago but its not forgetting about legacy users. The company has decided to kick off a new sale for customers who wish to upgrade to OS X Lion or Mountain Lion.
The 10.9 Mavericks release comes after months of it being in beta stage. It was initially unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this year. Since then the update was seeded only for developers. The public release took place on October 22, after the event in which Apple unveiled two new iPads.
Apple’s decision to offer OS X 10.7 Lion and 10.8 Mountain Lion for sale online will make the update process much easier for customers who don’t have Mac machines that are compatible with Mavericks.*Mavericks is compatible with machines that can run OS X Snow Leopard, but the possibility of issues persisting exists.*Through the Mac App Store, Apple only offers the latest iteration of Mac software. Those who wish to purchase an older iteration must do so over the phone directly from the company.
These $20 vouchers, which can be purchased through Apple’s online store, will allow Leopard or Snow Leopard users to upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion.*After purchasing the voucher, users must redeem it in the Mac App Store, as the software will be downloaded from there, not the company’s online store.
