Cyber Monday 2013 sees iOS leading Android by a significant margin



Repeating performance seen during Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend, iOS led Android throughout the online shopping fever on Cyber Monday 2013.





A recent report from IBM revealed that iOS*led Android during the Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping weekend, in which nearly $2 billion was spent online. During this period iOS generated 26 percent of all overall mobile traffic as opposed to 11 percent generated by Android. The average iOS users were also found to have spent more per order. Throughout Cyber Monday 2013, iOS kept its lead over Android and generated record traffic and online sales.

Android only managed to generate 2.6 percent of all online sales this Cyber Monday, whereas iOS accounts for a whopping 14.5 percent of all online sales. Per order spending of users across both platforms translates into $120.29 and $106.70 respectively.*Out of the 31.7 percent of online traffic generated by mobile devices on Cyber Monday, iOS accounted for 22.4 percent while Android came in at 9.1 percent.*Mobile traffic on Cyber Monday 2013 has seen a 45 percent increase as opposed to the same time last year.

Cyber Monday online sales also surged this year, over 20.6 percent to be precise. Bulk of the sales were driven by tablet owners despite the fact that smartphones generated bulk of the online mobile traffic.
