LG-V510 once again tipped to be 8-inch Nexus tablet

The ever dependable leakster Evleaks has tipped that the LG-V510 is indeed a Nexus device, kicking off rumors of an 8-inch Nexus tablet once again.

The LG-V510 had first appeared on the Bluetooth certification website, and a glimpse of what looked like an 8-inch Nexus tablet in a Google ad made everyone think the search giant was readying a tablet to take on Apple’s iPad mini, based on LG’s G Pad, which sports the model number LG-V500. That speculation fell apart later on, when an alleged service manual of the LG-V510 made no mention of the device being a Nexus, something that likely disappointed many as an 8-inch tablet is quite a good sweet spot between the standard 7-inch and 10-inch tablets that have permeated the market.

However, a tweet by Evleaks has rekindled the possibility of the LG-V510 being a Nexus 8. The tweet is accompanied by a picture of a database entry that contains the text*”LGV510″ and “USG/GOOGLE_OPEN_16G (UNITED STATES)”, and the latter points a huge finger at the fact that a Nexus 8 does exist, though when and where Google will announce it is information we’ll have to keep waiting for.

In case the LG-V510 does turn out to be a Nexus, it should offer most of the same specs as the G Pad – a 1920×1200 display between 8 and 8.3-inches in size, Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front-facing cameras, and a 4,600 mAh battery. Those are specs that are pretty similar to the new Nexus 7, though whether it sells as well as Google’s 7-inch slate is something that remains to be seen.
