China Mobile iPhone pre-registration page screenshot leaks

A purported screenshot of the iPhone pre-registration page on China Mobile’s website has leaked online.

Over the past few months there have been many reports about the iPhones finally being released on China Mobile. It is expected that the world’s largest mobile carrier is going to formally announce the availability of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C on its network soon. A recent report from Xinhua, China’s state news agency, pegs the launch date on December 18, the exact same day when China Mobile’s commercial 4G service is switched on in the country.

Back in September Apple received the necessary network access license required to run its iPhones on China Mobile’s unique TD-LTE network. Both new iPhones are compatible with the network. This would be the first time that China Mobile will officially offer the iPhones, it has never done that whereas rivals China Unicom and China Telecom have been offering Apple’s smartphones for quite some time now. Claims about the legitimacy of this leaked screenshot can be made, given the fact that it shows the old China Mobile logo as opposed to the new one. So its possible that this might be a doctored image.

However, all recent signs point to an impending release of the iPhones on China Mobile. Promotional materials for the smartphones on the world’s largest mobile carrier have already been leaked, whereas both Apple and China Mobile have already declared their intention to bring the smartphones to the carrier’s over 700 million subscribers.
