The*Xolo Play Tegra Note, one of the first Android slates to build upon NVIDIA’s reference Tegra 4 tablet, has been spotted on an Indian retailer website, with an extremely affordable price tag attached to it.*
The*Xolo Play Tegra Note was originally announced in October and was expected to launch in the same month, but is yet to grace the market with its presence. However, that could change very soon, as Indian retailer Flipkart is now listing the tablet as coming soon, with a low price tag of $310 (Rs.*18,990) that could make it one of the best Android tablets in the budding smartphone market.
Why? Well, the biggest talking point for Xolo’s Tegra Note is that it is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 CPU, which sports four powerful Cortex-A15 cores and a 72-core GeForce GPU, offering lots of oomph under the hood for basically anything a user might throw at it. Also, the tablet will be getting updates directly from NVIDIA instead of Xolo, which basically translates into quicker software updates as there will be no middleman (namely the hardware manufacturer) involved.
Other specs of the tablet aren’t too attractive, but are nonetheless above average for the asking price – there’s a 7-inch 1280×800 display, 1GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear and VGA front-facing cameras, 16GB of storage that’s expandable via microSD card, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and micro HDMI connectivity, a 4,100 mAh battery that’s good for up to 10 hours of video playback, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Prospective buyers will be able to pick up the*Xolo Play Tegra Note in black or white, hopefully by the end of this month, though chances of the device making its way outside India are slim to none. Not that that’s going to be a problem, since the same tablet will be offered in various markets by other manufacturers, though that low price tag might not be accompanying it everywhere.
