ASRock launches the Fatal1ty B85 Killer motherboard

ASRock’s latest offering in the Fatal1ty series comes with Killer’s E2200 Series LAN card that aims to significantly reduce latency when gaming.

ASRock is one of many manufacturers who work with Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel, and its latest motherboard in the Fatal1ty line uses Intel’s B85 chipset on an ATX form factor. Featuring Killer’s E2200 LAN card, ASRock claims that this motherboard will severely reduce lag when gaming or streaming video. The Killer E2200 LAN card comes with a software containing a detection algorithm that prioritizes gaming over other networking activities. The software utility also allows gamers to custom select the games they want to prioritize.

The board is designed for the LGA 1150 socket (4th generation Intel Haswell processors), and allows for DDR3 1600 RAM, with a maximum of 32 GB over a total of 4 DIMM slots. The board comes with HDMI out with a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, with DVI-D and D-Sub also included. There are a total of four SATA3 6.0 Gb/s connectors and two SATA2 3.0 Gb/s connectors, along with two USB 3.0 ports and three USB 2.0 ports at the back, as well as a Fatal1ty mouse port (USB 2.0).

The Fatal1ty B85 Killer also features technology called Purity Sound, which delivers great sound through a combination of hardware and software offerings. Included on the motherboard is a 7.1 channel Realtek ALC1150 audio codec that has 115dB SNR (Signal-to-noise ratio), along with EMI shielding and PCB isolate shielding for blocking noise from on-board hardware, as well as a Texas Instruments’ 5532 amplifier that boost quality of audio considerably. The board comes with one PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot, one PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot, two PCI Express 2.0 x1 slots and three PCI slots.

Other features on the motherboard include 15μ gold plated connectors on the PCIe slot along with hi-density power connectors that aim to minimize power loss. The board also comes with software that customizes mouse and keyboard macros, and allows users to tweak hardware settings on the fly through the F-Stream software suite.

ASRock has not detailed worldwide availability yet, but the board should be available in select regions in time for the holidays.
