Google has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 update for supported Nexus devices, less than a week after Android 4.4.1 was made available.
While the Android 4.4.1 update was quite major, focusing on improving the Nexus 5 camera, the 4.4.2 update is rather minor and is focused on simple bug fixes and security enhancements, likely for issues that 4.4.1 introduced. Sprint has offered the following changelog for the Nexus 5, though it should apply to other devices as well:
- Fix for clearing the VM Indicator
- Fix for delivery of the VM Indicator
- Various additional software fixes
- Security enhancements
The update is rolling out to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, both 2012 and 2013 models of the Nexus 7, and the Nexus 10, and will be available over the air over the course of the next few days. You can manually check through the Settings » About phone » System updates menu if you’re unwilling to wait, though that won’t exactly do much good as these updates are staged and gradually roll out to different regions.
