Lenovo adds itself to list of BlackBerry buyout bidders


Lenovo has signed a non-disclosure agreement with BlackBerry to take a look the ailing Canadian handset maker.





Multiple parties are reported as interested in taking a look at what they can do with BlackBerry, and now Lenovo (though also rumored as a candidate in the past) is the latest addition, according to The Wall Street Journal .

BlackBerry’s attempt at retaining and growing a new generation of users didn’t go as planned, as adoption rate of its BB10 platform remained stagnant and sales of its handsets were underwhelming.* While BlackBerry continued to insist that BB10 is a true contender in the mobile space, consumers seem to think otherwise as gadgets makers continue to churn out Android-based devices to satisfy people’s thirst for mobile hardware.

Despite all the financial woes, BlackBerry is promising its customers, partners and fans that they “can continue to count on BlackBerry.”* In a recent letter to its users, BlackBerry states that it has “substantial cash on hand and a balance sheet that is debt free” and that it is still a viable “customer-oriented” business.
