Xolo may not have any fancy ongoing Black Friday promotions for its crowd-pleasing smartphones, but the OEM that’s close to snatch Samsung’s Indian mobile crown has bargain hunters more than covered with a brand new dirt-cheap handheld.
Dubbed Q500, the latest Xolo-made gizmo has gone official without much fanfare, carrying a suggested retail price of $128 (Rs. 7,999), but being up for grabs already lower than that, at $117 via India Times Shopping.
And boy, does the 4-incher have a lot going for it. You know, given its price range, not when pitted against Samsung’s Galaxy S4 or anything. The number one selling point is quite clearly the processor running the hardware show, which rocks four cores and, get this, is a Qualcomm-made concoction, not your usual low-cost MediaTek solution.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 clocked at 1.2 GHz, to be exact, which is no cream of the crop, but again, for $120 it’s essentially mind-blowing. Think about it, there was a time, not long ago, when that dough bought like a crammed tiny 3.5-incher with a single-core 1 GHz SoC. And now you get a 4-inch quad-core beast.
Maybe beast is overstating it, so let’s call it… not a pushover. More so as the rest of the features are, well, mostly mediocre:
