Denmark's GN ReSound to release its 'Made for iPhone' hearing aids next year

GN ReSound, a company based in Denmark, has announced that its “Made for iPhone” hearing aids will be available in the market early next year.

Apple has actually worked quite closely with this company, which has made the world’s first “Made for iPhone” hearing aid. Called LiNX, the hearing aids don’t require a “streamer” that transmits voice from the hearing aid to the mobile phone. LiNX is fully integrated, meaning that it connects with the iPhone or even iPod for that matter through 2.4 gigahertz band using Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy.

Basically, LiNX is the first hearing aid of its kind that can directly connect to a mobile phone without needing an intermediary transmitter. Its function isn’t just limited to phone calls. The hearing aids can be used to stream music as well, and they actually work as a two way headset for phone calls, thus offering the user a fully integrated experience.

GN ReSound will release the LiNX hearing aids early next year. They’re priced just over $3,000 per hearing aid. A lot of companies in Denmark work on hearing aid technology, it actually accounts for half of the world’s supply of hearing aids. For similar products, Apple is already collaborating with another company in Denmark and one that’s based in Minnesota, U.S.
