Microsoft not considering Stephen Elop for CEO?

New report from Bloomberg says the company is leaning away from former Nokia executive in hunt for new CEO.

Former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop is no longer considered the frontrunner in the deliberations as to who will lead Microsoft, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Anonymous sources that spoke to Bloomberg say both Stephen Elop and internal candidate Tony Bates are still being considered, but the board is giving Ford Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally and Microsoft executive Satya Nadella a keen eye.

Microsoft’s board is aiming to have their decision out by the end of the year. In a recent interview, Bill Gates, the board’s chairman, declined to give a timeline on the decision making process only stating “it’s a complex role to fill.”

As expected neither Microsoft nor Ford are commenting on this report.
