2014 Honda Civic models to support iOS mirroring

Honda has announced that its 2014 Civic models will feature further iOS integration by mirroring to an in-dash display.

It was only earlier this year when the car manufacturer announced that some of its vehicles would be getting a feature called Siri Eyes Free. Basically what this does is that it allows the driver to control Siri on their iOS device without having the touch or look at it. Drivers can invoke Siri through the touch of the button on the steering wheel and give commands to Apple’s virtual private assistant. The new iOS integration in 2014 Honda Civic models goes much deeper than that.

Honda has confirmed that the 2014 models will feature iOS mirroring.*The firmware will be mirrored to the car’s in-dash 7 inch display touchscreen display which can be used to control the device. Honda plans to unveil the feature on December 4, and it says that its more than just mirroring. Its a possibility that the feature might allow drivers to watch media and even browse the internet by mirroring their iOS device to the in-dash display.

Apart from that, Honda will also announce updates for Siri Eyes Free for its other vehicles on December 4. Honda isn’t the only car maker that Apple is working with to integrate iOS in vehicles, Cupertino is also involved with the likes of BMW, Jaguar, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and more.
