Eric Schmidt writes a guide on converting to Android from an iPhone

Eric Schmidt wants more users on Android and has written a guide detailing how to make the switch to an Android device from the iPhone.

In a post written on his Google+ wall, Eric Schmidt said that a lot of his friends have made the switch from an iPhone to an Android mobile.

He said that devices like the Galaxy S4, Motorola Droid Ultra and the Nexus 5 feature “better screens, are faster, and have a much more intuitive interface.” He also said: “like the people who moved from PCs to Macs and never switched back, you will switch from iPhone to Android and never switch back as everything will be in the cloud, backed up, and there are so many choices for you.”

Schmidt’s guide covers the basic details on how to create a Google account or login to an existing account in the first section, and then updating the handset to the attest version of Android. The second sections shows users how to transfer and sync content from an iPhone to a Mac. This involves music and other information sync by using iTunes, and using iCloud to sync contacts. Oddly enough, there are no instructions on how to do the same for users on a Windows machine. It is likely that Eric Schmidt thinks that all iPhone users will automatically use a Mac.

The third sections involves downloading Google Music Manager onto a Mac and syncing all iTunes content with it. Google Music Manager syncs all iTunes tracks to the cloud, and is free to use, although users have to provide their credit card information that gets saved in Google Wallet.

In the last section, Schmidt mentions that users have to get a nano-SIM to micro-SIM utility as the SIM tray slot in most Android devices has a micro-SIM slot against the nano-SIM used in the iPhone. Schmidt finishes by saying: “Be sure to use Chrome, not Safari; it is safer and better in so many ways.* And it’s free.”
