Logitech iPhone iOS 7 game controller unveiled

Logitech has announced a new game controller which is compatible with iOS 7 powered iPhone and iPod touch.

It became clear earlier this year that game controllers for iOS 7 devices will be released soon. That’s because iOS 7 comes with APIs that open up support for such controllers. MOGA and Logitech were both rumored to be working on one, and the former already released its Ace Power iOS 7 controller yesterday. Logitech has now announced the PowerShell, a game controller that also contains a battery pack inside.

The controller looks quite a lot like the one seen in leaked images, so it appears that Logitech hasn’t made any major changes to the design or the layout of the controls. On the left there’s a textured d-pad and on the right a cluster of buttons. A pair of shoulder buttons is present as well. The 1,500mAh battery inside the controller charges your device, thus enabling it to survive long sessions of mobile gaming.*Even when the controller is connected, the device’s major functions like making calls, taking pictures, browsing internet and listening to music all remain accessible and so do all of its physical buttons.

The Logitech PowerShell is available through the company’s website for $99. It is only compatible with iOS 7 powered iPhone 5S, iPhone 5 and the fifth generation iPod touch. The iPhone 5C is not supported.
