A new major SkyDrive iOS app update has been rolled out today, it is now capable of automatically uploading all photos taken with the camera.
At this point in time, the automatic upload feature is only available in the Windows Phone and iOS apps. Microsoft hasn’t said when the feature will be added to the Android app, but it does mention that the company is looking into the possibility. Apart from the new feature, SkyDrive iOS app has received some visual enhancements as well which bring the user interface in line with iOS 7.
The automatic photo upload feature isn’t enabled by default, users will have to manually enable it after installing the updated app. Once enabled, the app will proceed to upload all existing camera roll photos to the user’s SkyDrive. After that, all photos taken from the camera will automatically be uploaded. Users have the option to select whether photos should only be uploaded via Wi-Fi or if cellular connection can be used as well. Users can also allow the app to upload videos taken with the camera. There won’t be any need to worry about running out of SkyDrive storage, the app can resize photos and upload them instead of the originals to save storage in the user’s account.
The updated app also brings a number of bug fixes and performance improvements. It allows the suer to edit Office documents stored in the cloud as well.*Skydrive for iOS is available as a free download from the App Store.
