LG G3 mini makes an early appearance, sports 8MP camera and Android KitKat

LG seems to be doubling down on its next mini Android smartphone and could launch it alongside its upcoming flagship.

We’re still a couple of months away from an official announcement for the LG G3, but talk of the mini variant*that the G3 will invariably has already begun, thanks to its appearance in leaked documents. The documents list a device codenamed “B2 mini”, hinting that it might the LG G3 mini, since the G3 is expected to have the codename “B2″.

According to the documents, the G3 mini will be heading to AT&T as the LG*D725, and will feature a 720p display of unknown size and an 8-megapixel camera. The higher screen resolution compared to the G2 mini indicate that it won’t be as mid-range as mini smartphones usually are, though the fact that it sports only an 8-megapixel camera suggest we’re not looking at a mini flagship device like the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.

On the software side, the G3 mini runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat, which is pretty much a standard on all upcoming Android phones. At such an early stage, there’s no guarantee that the leaked documents are accurate, but since the trend of manufacturers launching mini variants of their flagships shows no signs of biting the dust, it wouldn’t be the least bit surprising if LG decides to make the G3 mini official at the same time as its more powerful counterpart.*
