LG G Watch will come in gold, feature always-on display and water-resistant body

LG’s official website now displays its upcoming smartwatch in an understated gold color and highlights major features.

LG took to their social networks to*post new images of the company’s upcoming Android Wear-powered smartwatch, revealing a new Champagne Gold color that will be available along with the previously seen black model. The gold version features a white strap with gold accents, giving it*a brighter look than the all-black variant while keeping things from being too flashy.*

LG has also listed additional details on the G Watch’s features, and chief among them is an “always-on display” that should be the perfect companion to the Google Now functionality that the Android Wear platform is all about and offer useful information to users without the need for manually turning on the screen, though it raises questions about the battery life these smartwatches will provide.*The G Watch will also be water- and dust-resistant, a feature that is also present on Samsung’s Tizen-based Gear smartwatches.

The LG G Watch will come with a 1.85-inch display and is expected to have 4GB of internal storage and 512MB RAM. Rumors suggest it will go up for sale as early as July;*it will be among the first smartwatches to run on Google’s new platform for wearables, and will compete with Motorola’s Moto 360, which will differentiate itself by looking more like a traditional smartwatch.
