Leaked LG G3 screenshots show flatter UI, Google Now-like features

The latest bout of LG G3 leaks show that the company is adopting a flatter look for its interface and building in contextual features.

LG’s next flagship phone is still a few months away from becoming official, but details on the device*have been leaking quite steadily over the last few months. While most rumors*only talked about its hardware, the latest leak has revealed actual screenshots from the LG G3. Right off the bat, the screenshots confirm that the phone has a 2K (QHD) display,*something that has already been hinted at by LG in the past.

Equally interesting is the flat UI that can be seen in the screenshots, indicating that LG has also decided to embrace a trend that’s quite commonplace now. Almost all of the interface’s elements seem to have gotten an overhaul – LG even seems to have taken cues from Samsung and opted for circular icons for the quick settings toggle,*though these serve to make the status bar look a bit too cluttered.



Furthermore, the onscreen menu key seems to have been given the boot, leaving the standard home, recent apps, and back buttons.*The screenshots also suggest LG will be building in Google Now-like functionality, with the*“You may want to take an umbrella since rain is expected during this afternoon” text on the weather widget*supposedly a part of a feature that will combine weather forecasts with user habits to provide them personalized recommendations for their daily routine.

Overall, the LG seems to be taking all the right steps to fix the few flaws of its phones with the G3. The LG G3 will reportedly include a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16-megapixel camera, and an IPX7 rating for water- and dust-resistance, and is expected to be followed by a mini variant soon after.
