Google confirms it has stopped production of the Nexus 5

Consumers will soon have only a phablet-size Nexus phone option for purchase.

The Nexus 6 went up for sale last month, and it looks the 6-inch device will soon be the only option for those looking to buy into Google’s Nexus lineup of smartphones. Google has officially confirmed that it has stopped production of the Nexus 5, its 2013 flagship. The company has said that*“once they are gone, they’re gone, so we’d suggest people get them while they can”.

The confirmation comes after the red and white versions of the Nexus 5 went missing from the Google Play Store and the black version went out of stock. The Nexus 5 will probably be available from retailers for a couple of months to come, though the fact*that new units are no longer being produced will likely disappoint quite a few folks, as they would have to adjust to using a gigantic smartphone if they’re interested in a stock and pure Android experience that only Nexus devices can provide.
