The latest installment in the LG G3 rumor saga is a rollercoaster ride between blurry, useless covert photos, precious, exclusive fresh intel and rehashed scoop.
It’s honestly hard knowing where to start with all these crazy detailed LG G3 information spills, but thankfully, they’ll be over soon. Until then, the past 24 hours have brought a flurry of reports to the table, some vague, some accompanied by imagery and a couple merely reiterating old pieces of gossip.
Without further ado, let’s sink our teeth into them in no particular order. Two distinct set of pics showcase the T-Mobile-bound G3 in its standard and developer-friendly variations, though in both cases, the actual phone is tucked away in a protective shell.
Well, it’s not like we don’t know full well how it looks, right? Besides, the takeaway is the G3 is definitely headed for Magenta, including with an unlockable bootloader out the box.
Moving on to juicier stories, a Greek website has photographic proof the “international” LG G3, aka D855, allows the easy replacing of its battery and storage expansion via a microSD slot. In other words, the back cover is swappable. Huzzah!
Also juicy, but yet to be confirmed – the phone’s back cover is metallic. LG’s own German branch slipped that tidbit in hyping G3’s snazzy QuickCircle case, although they might simply mean the chassis rocks a combo of plastic and aluminum elements. Even worse, it could be made of faux metal (read plastic), in which case we’re dealing with a typo or misunderstanding.
Finally, according to The Verge, the 5.5 incher’s laser autofocus camera system is now a guarantee. Rumored before, this would increase the speed and reliability of the already impressive snapper’s focus. Remember, we’re talking an OIS+ shooter here. A 13 megapixel unit, but a top-notch little point-and-shoot replacement nevertheless.
As for the rest of the specs, they’re set in stone as follows:
- 5.5-inch Quad HD 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution display
- Quad-core 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 CPU
- 3 GB RAM
- 32 GB built-in storage
- 3,000 mAh battery
- 2.1 MP front camera
- Android 4.4 KitKat
