Former ‘Uncharted’ creative director joins EA to work on ‘Star Wars’ game

Amy Hennig has joined Visceral Games to work on a Star Wars title.

Amy Hennig, the creative director of the Uncharted series has joined EA’s Visceral Games after ending her decade-long tenure at Naughty Dog last month.

Insider sources say Hennig was edged out by Neil Druckman and Bruce Straley, the directors of The Last Of Us, and that the Uncharted series will now be under their guidance. Hennig was the director and writer for Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. She was said to have been working on an Uncharted PlayStation 4 title when she left naughty Dog.

At Visceral Games, Hennig would serve as the creative director for the studio’s Star Wars game. Visceral Games executive producer Steve Papoutsis welcomed Hennig in a blog post on EA’s blog, saying, “Amy has long been recognized as one of our industry’s top visionaries and is coming off an amazing run as the writer and creative director of the Uncharted franchise.”

“As both a colleague and friend, I’ve always admired her approach to creative development — focusing on nailing down the soul of a game first, and then making sure the writing, the gameplay, the design, and the art comes together to form a unified, interactive experience for the player,” he continued.

EA announced at last year’s E3 that it DICE was working on a Star Wars title called Star Wars: Battlefront. It is unclear as to what game Visceral Games would be tasked to create, but it is likely that it will be an action-adventure title.
