Samsung's upcoming Galaxy A5 leaks out in pictures

The Galaxy A5 is said to feature a metal-like material and sports*a design similar to Samsung’s metal-clad Galaxy Alpha.

The Galaxy Alpha became the first Android smartphone from Samsung to feature a metallic construction, and as recent leaks have shown, that device is only the first of many new devices that will fall under Samsung’s A series of smartphones. The SM-A500 has been expected to be the first to launch in that new lineup, and today, the folks over at*SamMobile*have managed to confirm the name of the device and also published pictures showing it in detail from every side.

The SM-A500 is set to be launched as the Galaxy A5 (a rather uninspiring title), but it seems rumors of the device sporting a full-metal body won’t pan out. According to SamMobile’s source, the Galaxy A5 feels “cold in the hand” – that’s a feeling one would normally associate with metallic phones like the iPhones or the HTC One M8, but SamMobile believes the A5 could feature a not-so-standard material in order to keep a premium feel while keeping production costs low.

It remains to be seen just what Samsung is cooking up, but one thing is clear – the company is finally moving away from plastic for many of its devices, and the Galaxy A5 could take the Galaxy Alpha’s premium look to the mid-range. As a reminder, the Galaxy A5 is expected to feature a 5-inch HD display, a Snapdragon 400 processor, 16GB of expandable storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,330 mAh battery. It is said to run on Android 4.4.4, with the latest version of the Korean manufacturer’s infamous TouchWiz UI on top.
