LG's webOS-powered TV interface revealed in leaked image

A leaked image offers an early look at LG’s webOS-powered television, which the Korean manufacturer is expected to show off at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next week.

The interface shown in the leaked render is reminiscent of webOS’ cards-based smartphone interface, but has considerable visual differences than what was seen on Palm’s webOS smartphones. Based on the image, it seems that apps for YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Skype and even a web browser will be available at launch, with the cards allowing a user to switch between currently running apps.

Little is known about the TV’s hardware, though rumors suggest it will run off a 2.2GHz dual-core processor accompanied by 1.5GB of RAM (with the display likely a 1080p unit at the very least.) Apps will reportedly be based on webOS’ open source Enyo development framework, though it remains to be seen whether developers jump on board to create apps and services for LG’s next-generation TVs.
