Microsoft has already confirmed that future Lumia devices will not sport the Nokia name, and that the first such device would be launching sometime later this year. Now, images of this Microsoft Lumia have been published online on Chinese regulatory authority TENAA’s website, carrying the Redmond giant’s branding on both the front and rear. This particular device has model number RM-1090 and is listed as having dual SIM slots, indicating that it will be a low-end/mid-range device and not*a flagship.
Rumor has it that the RM-1090 could be a successor to the Lumia 530, which was the sequel to Nokia’s bestselling Lumia 520, and the images certainly reiterate that.*The device is expected to feature a display with a qHD (540×960) resolution, but details on other specs are pretty much non-existent at this point. Given Windows Phone’s success in the budget smartphone market, it’s no surprise Microsoft is working on a low-cost device, though it’s possible the company*will be doing all it can to make sure the RM-1090 can go head to head with Google’s newly launched Android One smartphones.
