The G Watch has finally made an appearance in the flesh, after months of appearing in promotional images and having most of its details leaked ahead of launch.
A leaked picture showing the LG G Watch has cropped up on Reddit, giving us a real-life glimpse of one of the first Android Wear smartwatches.
The image shows the G Watch with its display turned on, running what looks like the initial setup wizard that will connect the watch with a phone, and also confirming that Android Wear will simply be an app on the connected device*and will be accessible from Google Play. Also noticeable is the charging/USB port on the right side, and the rubberized band, which users will hopefully be able to swap out for a different*one.
That’s pretty much everything the leaked image reveals, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing considering a lot of details have already cropped up online in the last few weeks. The G Watch will feature an always-on 1.65-inch display with 280×280 resolution, a water-resistant build with gold and black color options, and a Snapdragon 400 chip. Rumor has it that Google will be handing out a G Watch to every attendee at the Google I/O developer conference next week, with a market launch expected sometime in early July.
