Android 4.4.3 to roll out to Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 today

The minor update is said to include security enhancements and bug fixes and should fill in the void until the next major version of Android is announced.

The Android 4.4.3 update will begin rolling out to the Google Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 today, according to support documents put up by US carrier T-Mobile.

Android 4.4.3 has been a long time coming, with plenty of rumors and leaks about the update having showed up in the last couple of months. The Nexus 5 was supposed to get the update way back in mid-April – Google apparently missed that deadline, but hopefully it won’t be another false alert this time around. According to information on T-Mobile’s support page, the update will be sized at 54MB and bring the software version on the Nexus 5 up to*KTU84M, while the Nexus 7 will see a bump to*KTU84L, with the update to roll out to both devices in the next few hours.*

As far as changes are concerned, Android 4.4.3 is simply listed as including security enhancements and bug fixes. Not very interesting, but the bug fixes should be welcomed by Nexus 5 owners, who have reported facing issues such as frequent data connection drops, slow camera focus speeds, and even random reboots. There’s no telling if the unlocked variants of the two devices will be getting the update today as well, though that will likely be the case considering there are no manufacturer skins involved to delay the rollout process.
