LG’s first 4K monitor will feature an ultra-widescreen panel with a resolution of 4096 x 2160. A 34-inch and 29-inch monitor with an*UltraWide resolution of 3440 x 1440 will also be launched at the same time, with all models being showcased at LG’s booth at the CES next month.
South Korean manufacturer LG announced that it is launching its first 4K monitor in January 2014. The 31-inch monitor, which features the model number 31MU95, will come with a 19:10 ratio and a screen resolution of 4,096 x 2,160. LG is taking a different route by offering monitor with the full 4K resolution, whereas other manufacturers are choosing to go with 3,840 x 2,160 pixels at 16:9 ratio, like Asus has done with its first 31.5-inch 4K monitor. LG will be demoing this monitor at the Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas next month.
The monitor also comes with a Thunderbolt 2 port that offers data transfers at 20 Gbit/sec. Thunderbolt 2 allows for dual-channel data transfers, which means that you can view the original 4K video file and edit it while archiving the file at the same time. The monitor also comes with LG’s True Color Pro calibration software, with the monitor displaying 99 percent of the Adobe RGB color space.
In addition to the 4K 31MU95 monitor, LG will also be showcasing the 34-inch UM95 monitor that comes with a 21:9 UltraWide resolution of 3440 x 1440. All new models will be on show at the CES next month, where LG will likely divulge availability and pricing details.
