HTC’s fantastic in plastic, affordable, single rear camera-sporting take on the all-metal One M8, confusingly named One E8, is apparently headed stateside, after going live in a handful of European and Asian territories back in June.
I bet you did not see this coming. Nor did we. I mean, we did, but a while ago, after which we kind of gradually lost hope. But out of nowhere, Sprint just confirmed the so far isolated HTC One E8 handheld will be made available on the Now Network.
When? How? And especially, for how much? All good questions, yet the answers are currently up in the air. Not that Sprint doesn’t want to share that information. It’s just the third largest wireless carrier in the US of A was likely not supposed to out its E8 on this fine Friday afternoon, so you can understand why we’re still waiting for ETAs and price tags.
We’re also expecting the network’s promotional video to be pulled out of YouTube any minute now, unless the “mishap” was part of the plan all along, and the official, detailed announcement is coming later today.
Either way, you can consider the E8 for Sprint confirmed, and the specs are very much etched in stone, no doubt mimicking those of the “international” version. You know, 5-inch Full HD display, quad-core 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 chip, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage, microSD support, a single, conventional 13 MP rear camera, 5 MP front snapper, 2,600 mAh battery, etc., etc., etc.

4G LTE connectivity too, and a shell that Sprint deems “timelessly elegant”, “gracefully stylish”, and premium-looking, in spite of polycarbonate’s replacement of aluminum. A controversial design move that’s bound to alienate a handful of hardcore HTC fans, but that should allow the premium-ish phone to cost no more than $100 on-contract and $500 outright. And who can compete with that?
