The leaked image shows a device similar to Nvidia’s Tegra Note tablets, with front-facing speakers and the company’s exclusive Tegra Zone app.
Despite*seeing its Android-based Shield console fail to attract gamers, Nvidia has been rumored to be working on a Shield tablet, and today we’re getting*what is claimed to be the first look at the device.
The design of the tablet seen in the picture is similar to the Nvidia Tegra Note that launched in the second half of 2013, though that also increases the chance of this being an elaborate fake. The tablet seems to have an aluminium chassis with front-facing stereo speakers, a front-facing camera, and a newer version of the Tegra Zone app, with the “My PC Games” option suggesting users will be able to stream games from their PCs on the tablet.
That’s the extent of information revealed by the leaked image, though previous rumors suggest the device could have a 7.9-inch 2048×1536 display, a Tegra K1 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 4G LTE connectivity, and Android 4.4 KitKat. NVIDIA will likely provide accessories including a wireless game controller (possibly with the option to dock with the tablet), and it’s possible the Shield tablet will see greater consumer interest, given a tablet can be a multipurpose device instead of one only focused on gaming.
