The sensational indie platformer/rogue-lite Rogue Legacy is coming to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita with*Cross-Buy later this month.
There’s lots to like about the indie hit Rogue Legacy: platforming action, old-school bit-style graphics, procedurally generated dungeons, tracking the lineage of gallant–if not sometimes flatulent–knights and of course an oh-so-satisfying oversized sword.
What more could you ask for? Maybe a complete PS*Vita port to take your dungeon crawling on-the-go,*or perhaps Cross-Buy across PS3 and PS4?
In a recent post on the PlayStation Blog, Teddy Lee, game designer for Cellar Door Games, recently revealed that Rogue Legacy is indeed coming to*Sony’s PlayStation console/handheld trinity.
Slated for a release on July 29, the port will feature all the controls, updates and content included in*the PC version along with a coveted Platinum trophy and some extra content–but “just a little”.

Cross-Buy will be supported, delivering copies of the game across PS3, PS4 and PS Vita with a single purchase. A nifty Cross-Save feature makes it so you don’t have to start a new game if you decided to play Rogue Legacy on a different platform, transferring your saved data to and from handheld and console across the cloud.
Considering how punishing the randomized dungeons are, this is an incredibly helpful feature and helps keep your hard-fought legacy intact.
Lee also revealed that*Rogue Legacy was always meant to be a PS Vita game way before it was released on PC.*“When we originally made Rogue Legacy, we made it with the PS Vita buttons in mind,” Lee conferred.
“No joke. We gambled that if it did well, we wouldn’t want the Vita version being nerfed in the control department, so we made sure to not use too many buttons. That crazy gamble we made over a year ago paid off, and that means the Vita version plays perfectly! Happiness!”
For those worrying about frame rate issues on the handheld, Lee commented that it was “important for us that the VITA version run at 60fps”, which pretty much allays any fears of those dreaded stutter-stops that ruin roguelikes.
Pricing has not yet been revealed, but Lee says that it’ll be “close to the PC version”, which retails at $14.99. It’s also possible that PS Plus subscribers may get a discount when the game releases.
