Lenovo announces N20 and N20p Chromebooks

Lenovo’s new Chromebooks offer durability and*portability in a 11.6-inch form factor.*

Google and Intel are set to*make a Chrome OS announcement later today, which will likely include the launch of new hardware. Until that time, however, we have Lenovo’s new Chromebooks to admire. The manufacturer launched Chromebooks earlier this year that were aimed at the education sector, so these are Lenovo’s first consumer centric Chromebooks. Both the N20 and N20p feature similar hardware, with the major differentiator being that the N20p is a touchscreen variant. The N20p also has a hinge that allows you to rotate the device by 300 degrees. This lets you use the Chromebook in what Lenovo calls a “Stand Mode.”

The specs for both models include a 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 display, Intel Celeron CPU, up to 4GB of DDRL3 RAM and 16GB eMMC internal memory along with a 1 MP camera at the front. 100 GB Google Drive storage is throwm in, as is customary on every Chromebook. In terms of connectivity, these Chromebooks offer two USB ports, microSD and SD card reader, Bluetooth 4.02 in addition to Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and an HDMI-out. There is no mention of battery size, but the Chromebooks are claimed to last over eight hours on a single charge.

The design of the Chromebooks looks sleek and is reminiscent of devices that cost much more, but the weight might be a bit of a concern to users. With an overall weight of 2.8 lbs and 3.1 lbs, these Chromebooks aren’t the lightest in the 11.6-inch category, but they aren’t too heavy so as to hinder portability.

Lenovo has mentioned*that the N20 will be available in July for $279, while the N20p will be launching in August for $329.
