Evleaks has revealed that the Sony Xperia Z1 mini could come to market as the Xperia Z1^s, retaining its powerful internals and petite dimensions.
We’ve lost of count of the number of times the Xperia Z1^s has made an unofficial appearance, with each leak and rumor suggesting a different name for the device, an issue that we can now consider resolved, given that it’s coming from the ever dependable Evleaks. Recent rumors suggest an international launch will take place in the second week of January (starting with China), though that’s a detail that’s still pretty much up in the air unless some concrete info crops up in the coming days.
Evleaks has also reconfirmed the specs of the Xperia Z1^s, and they remain as powerful and top-notch for a 4.3-inch device – there’s a 720p display, 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS camera with Sony G Lens, 16GB of internal storage, a 2,300 mAh battery, and Android Jelly Bean. The last point on that spec sheet is a bit off-putting for a 2014 smartphone, but hopefully the company will push out an update to bring Android 4.4 KitKat to the Xperia Z1^s soon after launch.
