iPhone 6 purported metal frame leaks online

A metal frame believed to be of the next generation iPhone has surfaced online.

Its not unusual to hear rumors about unreleased and unannounced Apple products. Despite the fact that it has only been a couple of months since Apple launched its two new iPhones, the rumor mill is abuzz with chatter about the next generation iPhone which will reportedly be called iPhone Air, though most commonly these days it is referred to as the iPhone 6. This is the first purported physical component of the next iPhone that has leaked online, originating from China.

This metal frame is believed to belong to the iPhone 6, which is expected to be as thin as 6mm. The frame seen in this device is certainly thin, in fact, thinner than the iPhone 5S’ frame. Furthermore, the sheer size of it hints at a larger display. It has been consistently rumored that the next iPhone is going to come with a larger display.

Obviously the authenticity of this image can be called into question, and it is quite soon for components of a smartphone that nearly a year away to start showing up online. There exists the possibility that it might be from a prototype, Apple is reportedly testing various prototypes of the next iPhone with varying display sizes. Rumor has it that the iPhone 6 a.k.a iPhone Air will be released in September 2014.
