Analyst finds iPhone 5S supply has finally caught up with demand

Months after its initial release, Apple has finally been able to close the demand supply gap.

Analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray has been conducting checks of 60 Apple Retail Stores in the U.S. ever since the iPhone 5S was released back in September.*At the start of October, only 8 percent of these stores had the smartphone in stock. A fortnight ago, a survey of the same stores revealed that just 24 percent had the iPhone 5S available for customers. The most recent survey conducted merely a couple of days ago showed 100 percent availability, meaning that each and every single Apple Retail Store had the iPhone 5S in store.

In a note to investors, Munster said that they now believe Apple has caught up to demand. The company was expected to do that prior to the lucrative holiday shopping season that’s just around the corner. Last month it was reported that while iPhone 5C production is being cut down, Apple is boosting production of the iPhone 5S. It is even said to have ended production of iPhone 5C at one Foxconn facility and dedicated the manufacturing capacity to producing more iPhone 5S units.

This note comes a few days after Apple drastically improved shipping estimates for the iPhone 5S on its online store. The latest smartphone is now available to ship within 1-3 business days if bought through the company’s website.
