‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ launching October 14 on all major platforms

Batman: Arkham Knight will be the conclusion to Rocksteady’s trilogy of Batman games in the Arkham series.

Warner Bros. has confirmed that a new Batman game will launch later this year. The game is titled Batman: Arkham Knight, and will be the conclusion of the trilogy that started with Batman: Arkham Asylum. The storyline will be a continuation of the events featured in the second instalment in the series, Batman: Arkham City. Last year’s Batman: Arkham Origins was more of a prequel that featured a younger Bruce Wayne during his initial days as Batman.

Rocksteady will be the studio behind the game. They made the earlier two games in the franchise, but WB Montreal took over for last year’s Batman: Arkham Origins. Game director Sefton Hill has mentioned that the ability to create for next-gen consoles has allowed Rocksteady to bring certain design elements to life. “We’re excited to be developing the game for next gen platforms, which has allowed us to bring to life the design elements that we envisioned from the beginning such as the Batmobile and how it augments Batman’s abilities, to the fully detailed and realised Gotham City.”

The Batmobile is said to be integral to the gameplay and it is likely that more of Gotham City will be available for users to navigate. Hill said that, “This is the natural end for the story. We really want to go out in style.” The game will showcase Batman at the height of his powers and will feature a host of antagonists like Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn. There will also be an add-on for the game that features*Harley Quinn as a playable character.

The game is set to launch on October 14, 2014 on all major platforms like the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It is already on pre-order at retailers like Best Buy for $59.99.
