Snapchat updates iOS app with 'replay' feature

Snapchat’s updated iOS app comes with a feature that lets users “replay” self-destructing photos and videos.

Snapchat is a very popular service, so popular that even Facebook tried to acquire it. However, it has opted to stay independent at this point in time, while its user base balloons every passing month. Through Snapchat, users can send self-destructing photos and videos that will only be displayed for a certain amount of time to the recipient. While the app doesn’t save content, it can’t stop the recipients from taking screenshots.*A new feature included in the app’s latest update, called “replay,” lets users view old Snaps that they have received, albeit just one a day. The feature can be found in the additional services menu of the Snapchat app.

This update also includes a number of other features as well, such as Smart Filters, which lets users add data overlays to their Snaps, such as weather information, time and more. Visual filters can be applied to Snaps too, and the app also boasts a front facing flash, which basically flashes a bright white light on the screen when the Snap is clicked.

Snapchat for iOS is available as a free download from the App Store.
