Oppo confirms spec-busting Find 7 phone, Find 5 mini reportedly in the works too

Not resting on its CyanogenMod-flavored N1 laurels, Oppo is going forward with the Find 7 buzz-building campaign, this time with a full-on confirmation of the heavyweight’s market name.

Technically, that the thing will be called Find 7 is all we know for certain for the time being. On the down low, however, an almost complete spec sheet surfaced online last week and, while some may argue it’s too sweet to be true, we would expect nothing less from Oppo.

The highlights are 4G LTE connectivity (a big deal for China), 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution 5.7-inch panel, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU, 3 GB RAM and 13 MP/5 MP dual cameras.

When should we expect the spec-buster to go official? Hard to say. Since Oppo is Tweeting teaser images and throwing hints in the media at an increasing pace, it can’t be long now. But will they try to hijack the holidays and organize a big, glamorous event around Christmas? Unlikely.

So January it is, possibly with a CES 2014 showcase to prove the OEM is truly serious about making it on the Western hemisphere.

But what if the Find 7 won’t fly solo to Las Vegas? No, Oppo doesn’t have any other flagship devices in the pipeline (that would be downright absurd), however they may be working on a mid-ranger with an impossible to refuse bang for buck factor.

That’s right, the “Mini” fever is catching on in China as well, as a 4.7-incher believed to be the Find 5 mini has been seen getting regulatory approvals from FCC’s local counterpart. The model number is R827 and the rumored features include 960 x 540 pixels resolution, a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek CPU, 1 GB RAM, 8 MP rear-facing camera and 3G connectivity.

Not too shabby… provided Oppo sets pricing around the $250 mark.
