ASUS PadFone X with Snapdragon 800 and Android 4.4 spotted in benchmark

ASUS’ tablet-cum-phone hybrid lineup could be getting a new member in the form of the PadFone X, which decided to make a short stop at a benchmark website.*

The device’s details showed up on AnTuTu’s benchmark database for a while before being pulled – the PadFone X is running on Android 4.4 KitKat and is powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor (MSM8974AB), with unsurprisingly high benchmark scores, made possible by the potent combination of the Snapdragon chip and Google’s lightest and fastest version of Android yet.

There’s also a 1,200×1,920 pixel display of unknown size, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage on the PadFone X; the camera is mentioned as being a 5-megapixel unit, but considering we’re looking at a flagship handset with otherwise top-of-the-line specs, there should at least be an 8-megapixel camera on the final product (or a 13-megapixel one, if we go by the recently launched PadFone Infinity.) Of course, being a PadFone handset, a 10-inch tablet and dock companion is a given as well.

The PadFone X will likely be unveiled sometime in the first quarter of 2014, though we’ll have to wait for details like pricing and exact launch dates. Looking at the rather niche market ASUS’ PadFones have targeted, it’s a wait that shouldn’t be too hard to bear.
