Asus PadFone mini 4.3 snapped on camera ahead of formal announcement

Asus’ first stab at the “Mini” mobile niche has been a long time coming and is now but a couple of days away from going official.

After snatching GCF’s stamp of approval right ahead of the week-end and making a few visits at other certification authorities and benchmarking websites a little while back, all the stars seem to be aligning for an Asus PadFone mini formal intro on December 11 in Taiwan.

But why wait for the full story when we can get it earlier, thanks to always on the lookout Twitter insider @evleaks? He’s got the scoop, he’s ready to share it with us, and it leaves little to the imagination.

As expected, both parts of the 2-in-1 PadFone mini hybrid have been shrunken as opposed to the recently unveiled PadFone Infinity 2. The handheld is a 4.3 incher, whereas the tablet likely measures 7 inches in diagonal.

Remember however, you’re not dealing with two wholly different devices, but one that can act as two, so basically a phone with a docking station. And unlike on the 10-incher, the merger has to be made with the “PadFone Station” held in portrait mode so as to niftily accommodate the 4.3-incher.

Everything else about the “design language” very closely resembles the PadFone Infinity and Infinity 2’s vibes, save maybe for the bezels, which seem huger here. Or at least huger when put in perspective.

Now, the spec sheet is technically all hush-hush for the moment, though that legit-looking benchmark from back October cleared up more than a few things. The phone is to sport 960 x 540 pixels resolution, whereas the hybrid as a whole shall be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU.

On the software side of things, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean butters things up rather nicely, with battery sizes thus remaining the biggest mystery of all. Well, that, and the mongrel’s resolution when used as a tab.
