An app offering one Steve Jobs quote per day has been rejected by Apple from being listed on the App Store.
One would think that the company wouldn’t have any problems with this app, which simply seeks to celebrate its co-founder and spread his wisdom through daily quotes. On the contrary, Apple has decided not to list the app, which was set to be launched on Jobs’ 59th birthday.
The app is called Qouth Steve. It was developed by a developer at Amazon, John Gill, along with his brother, Grant Gill. It’s a simple app that offers quotes from the deceased Apple legend on a variety of topics, including but not limited to technology and design as well as romance and regrets.*Gill says that while Jobs’ words present interesting ways of looking at the world, his best quotes are about life itself.
Even after his death in October 2011, Jobs’ fans have continued to honor and remember him in a variety of ways. His outspoken demeanor and unorthodox style created a loyal fan following, which seems to have only grown since his passing. Jobs is often quoted, particularly on matters related to life or the intersection between technology and design. Which is why Gill thought it would be a good idea to create an app that offered daily quotes, such apps are already quite popular,*the model works for Bible quotes or just plain and simple daily inspirations.
Gill submitted the app for approval only to have it rejected. Apple told him that it can not accept Steve Jobs-themed apps, and that if he wants it to be approved, he should add quotes from other famous personalities as well.*That would have defeated the entire purpose for which Gill created this app, so instead of following Apple’s advice, he launched Quoth Steve as a web app. Head on over to get your daily dose of quotes from Steve Jobs.
