Xiaomi Mi 3 set for launch in Singapore on March 7

Xiaomi is set to launch the Mi 3 smartphone to the Singaporean market this March.

Xiaomi has, for the most part, been a brand that’s reserved for Asia, but even countries like Singapore isn’t a priority for the growing smartphone maker.* The Mi 3, which was unveiled late last year, is taking its sweet time getting to other regions in Asia.* Unlike other handset makers, however, the Xiaomi model has always been packing as much as possible into a handset for as little as possible.* In other words, premium phones that will go for a fraction of the costs from competing vendors (i.e. Samsung).

The Mi 3 TD features Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 4 clocked at 1.8Ghz, along with a 5-inch 1080p display.* The Mi 3 WCDMA version, on other hand, features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 CPU.* Nifty ‘premium features’ include things like a 13MP dual flash camera with a Sony Exmor sensor, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, and all these components are encased in ‘three layers of graphite.’

Aside from its premium feel, the Mi 3 also comes with Xiaomi’s in-house Android mod called MIUI.* Inspired by the previous iOS from Apple, MIUI has become a hit amongst Android users—for both official and unofficial hardware.* The Mi 3 comes with MIUI V5, one of the most polished Android ‘redefined’ mods to date.

The going price of the Mi 3 for Singaporeans will be S$419, and is slated to launch come March 7.
