The Canvio Home is a versatile NAS from Toshiba

Toshiba’s new Canvio Home series of network attached drives make it easier for users to share their content over a wide variety of devices.



Toshiba has a new entry in the booming market of consumer NAS products.

The Canvio Home series of products are its answer to Western Digital’s My Cloud services. It is aimed at users who do not want to build a NAS from scratch, but would like to have the ability to stream content across devices.

The Canvio Home works with Windows, Mac, iPhones and iPads, Android devices and is DLNA certified, which means that users can stream content to DLNA-enabled TVs and other home-entertainment systems. Users can access the contents of their Canvio Home from a remote location through Canvio’s mobile clients.

Maciek Brzeski, vice president of product marketing at Toshiba, said that the Canvio Home offers users will the ability to always access their digital assets, and that it is the easiest solution for sharing, streaming, and storing a large collection of files and multimedia.

The Canvio Home comes in two variations, with one model featuring a 2 TB hard disk and the other coming with a 3 TB disk. The 2 TB version costs $200, and the 3 TB variant is available for $260.
