Samsung is set to hold an unpacked event during Mobile World Congress, but the rumor mill isn’t so sure what the company will launch
Samsung might actually launch the Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress, as it has sent out invites of an Unpacked 5 event that will be held on the 24th of February. The invitation states that a new flagship device will be revealed, and the 5 in the name could turn out to be a subtle reference to the Galaxy S5. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube.
Earlier rumors indicated a late March launch for the Galaxy S5, but it looks like Samsung will reveal the device at the MWC. There might be a chance that this device might not turn out to be the Galaxy S5, but an all-metallic version of the Galaxy S4. Samsung launched black editions of the S4 and S4 mini last week, with these handsets featuring the same faux leather back as the Galaxy Note 3. So it is not unlikely that Samsung would consider launching an all-metallic version of the Galaxy S4. The all-metal S4 could herald a new line of high-end handsets, with the metallic version of the Galaxy S5 succeeding it.
