Computer mouse that can give you six pack abs (sort of)

Need a quick fix to your internet couch potato tendencies? Japanese tech distributor Thanko transforms an ordinary mouse into a pocket-sized fitness machine.

The actual efficiency of electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) devices is largely debatable, due in part to the wide variety in quality of these kinds of items, as well as of course due to the way we normally use them. But in case you need something that would function both as a computer peripheral and as a fitness unit, then the Muscle Mouse might look attractive to you.

At a glance, this unassuming wireless mouse looks just like your average computer mouse. It all changes however, when a wire that connects to an electric pad is plugged into its open side socket. With the simple flip of a switch, the Muscle Mouse finally reveals itself, allowing you to surf the web while stimulating any target muscle to work out.

Now, if you think this gadget simply hooks up its batteries to the electric pads, you’re mistaken. There are least 6 six different EMS modes for the Muscle Mouse, Random A, Random B, Machoman, Katatataki (onomatopoeia for a non-stop continuous hitting pattern), Color Timer, and Siren. Each of these modes is shown with a different LED light status, so the user would know which electric current pattern is currently being used. The EMS unit of the Muscle Mouse also has a ten-level intensity setting, and the electric pads come in two sizes.

As for the mouse unit itself, the Muscle Mouse has a sensitivity rating of 1,000 dpi. It is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and Mac OSX 10.5+. It requires two AAA batteries to use, and is now available in Japan at a price that is equivalent to $59.00.
